Major Russian Strikes Cut Electricity Across Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have come under increased strikes in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused electricity outages in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were wounded while local people in the city's east were left without electricity and encountered interruptions to water systems, per reports from local authorities.

Simultaneously, a minor was lost their life in a separate Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southeastern part, as reported by local officials.

Moscow has increased assaults on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while officials has demanded "concrete actions" from international partners to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but decisive action - from the US, Europe and the Group of Seven - in delivering defensive weapons and applying penalties," mentioned in a online statement.

Authorities reported that numerous aerial vehicles and over thirty missiles struck energy facilities, characterizing such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were striving to repair systems.

A wave of strikes damaged electrical systems and residential structures in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people injured in the attacks on the capital have been transported for medical care, according to local officials.

Local officials said the metropolitan region came under heavy assaults throughout the evening. A young boy was killed and multiple civilians were hurt.

The attacks follow evenings of aerial attacks in the area, portions of which are currently controlled by Moscow's military.

The whole nation is on alert for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are tougher to spot.

Authorities told journalists that Moscow was deliberately attempting to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already disrupting fuel infrastructure.

Officials stated energy workers and authorities were preparing for further attacks.
